  • Q3

If I meet the eligibility requirements for both international students and overseas Chinese students, which status should I use for application?

If you meet both the eligibility of international students and overseas Chinese students, you can check your admission prospectus to decide which status you would like to choose. Please be aware that once you select a condition for admission, you can not switch to another.

Generally, the difference between international students and overseas Chinese students are:

    1. Tuitions: the tuitions for overseas Chinese students are the same as Taiwanese students. On the other hand, tuition for international students is usually 2 times that of Taiwanese students.
    2. Scholarships: the scholarships for overseas Chinese students are usually available after the students are admitted. But the scholarships for international students usually require a prior application before the student comes to Taiwan.
  • Q4

May I apply for your degree program if my Chinese Language skills do not meet your requirements?

The situation depends on the program you admitted. If your program is taught mostly in English, your Chinese language skills will not be a problem for your study. However, many programs in Taiwan are still taught in Chinese only, so that will require higher Chinese language skills for you to follow the courses. We suggest you contact the international office and the program coordinator of your university regarding the language requirements.
