The Institute of Information Systems and Applications was established in 2001, with an aim to combine different areas of expertise for advanced research and education on innovative information systems for interdisciplinary applications. The primary mission is to foster professionals with broad knowledge of cross-disciplinary issues and capabilities of forward-looking research, systems integration, and teamwork. Faculties of the institute consist of teams of professors from computer science as well as related disciplines from other departments for computer-based interdisciplinary research and education. The Institute offers doctoral and master programs and welcomes students with diverse backgrounds and a strong desire for additional IT training. The institute structures its courses around theories and practices of information systems and integration, and their applications in all fields of information societies, particularly on human-centered computing, social networking, digital learning, and bioinformatics.
