The aim of Department of Mechanical Engineering is to ensure that students possess basic knowledge of mechanical engineering theory and practice, professional ethical integrity and continuous learning capability. It has experienced faculty and well-equipped laboratories. The current research of the department focuses on mechanical design and manufacture, micro/nano technology, mechatronics, and energy engineering. The educational quality of the department is certified by the institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET).
Students are advised to take mathematics and basic professional courses in the first three years. In the fourth year, they are encouraged to take advanced professional courses in topics that interest them. Therefore, they can participate in research projects or apply for industry internships to increase their competencies and reduce the gap between learning and application. The master students are expected to acquire professional knowledge of mechanical engineering, creativity and the ability to solve practical problems. They can work in the semiconductor, electronics and electrical, optoelectronic, mold and die, manufacture, automaton, aerospace, car/motorcycle and petrochemical industries after graduation.
