The Power Mechanical Engineering Department (PME) was established in 1980. In the beginning, the PME played an instrumental role in fostering the five-year junior college program. From 1997, the five-year junior college program was replaced by a two-year junior college program and a four-year college program. Since February 2010 the department has merged with Graduate Institute of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Currently the institute is offering Master program, Master-level Industrial RD program, Master’s degree program for working people, and Doctorate Program.
