The Facts and Figures
The Department of the Public Health (PH) has been more than 40 years of history. The master and doctoral degree programs have been for 25 and seven years, respectively. So far we have achieved 2124 graduates (Bachelor: 1758, MS: 359, PhD: 7) working both in the public and private sectors in the health related fields.
CMU’s PH department is the second long history for fostering the public health workers in Taiwan, and the longest one (established in 1972) is the Department of Public Health at NTU. We are very proud of our excellent alumni who ever had or have seats in the head or director positions of the central health administrations or local health bureaus (appointed as high-rank public servants with at least 12 levels) and their dedications to improving the quality of the public health for Taiwan.

CAREER Opportunities
Students’ career opportunities are subject to their interests and goals. They can work in the local or central governments in the health related sectors by passing the national examinations and becoming public servants. They also can apply jobs for working in the health-related private sectors such as environmental engineering and consulting, biotech, statistics and consulting companies or non-profit organizations for building up community health. In addition, they can pursue educational and/or academic careers in research institutions and/or universities.
For students who are interested in being technical personnel in specific working settings, they can pursue passing the advanced technique examinations to be environmental or industrial technicians, fire-fighting technicians, and worker safety technicians, working freelance or in industry.
For graduates of MD-MPH programs, students can develop their careers to be executive managers or directors of public or private hospitals, or pursue their academic achievements in research or educational institutions.
For graduates of international PH master degree programs, they can be a health planners, educators, and decision makers in the public health sectors in their home countries.
