The College of Biomedical Engineering (CBME) is one of the youngest colleges established in Taipei Medical University in August 2015 – faculties and students are all full of energy and passion! There are four graduate institutes and one school in CBME: Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering (Master/PhD), Graduate institute of Nanomedicine and Engineering (Master), Graduate institute of Biomedical Optomechatronics (Master), and International PhD Program of Biomedical Engineering, with the School of Biomedical Engineering offering the undergraduate degree. All postgraduate courses are taught in English.

This programs covers three main areas of research fields, including biomaterials/medical device, in vitro diagnosis/simulation, and precision/cancer medicine. It also offers expertise in topics such as tissue regeneration, drug release, biomechanics, orthopedics device, microfluid channel design, vascular hydrodynamic simulation, personalized therapy, anti-cancer gene analysis and other applications of modern medicine and biomedical engineering.

Participants with biological/medical or engineering background are welcomed to join this program specifically designed for young talent interested in biomedical engineering. Participants can learn the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in biomedical engineering with supervision from clinicians of TMU’s affiliated hospitals. There will also be opportunities to visit local companies to compare research and industrial practice in Taiwan and that of their home country. International participants will be able to enjoy living in Taiwan while gaining professional improvement, cultural understanding, and also mandarin Chinese – an experience that can’t be missed!

The sub-themes included in this internship/training programs are as follows:

• Biomaterials Application

• R&D of Orthopedic Reconstruction Devices

• Plasmon-Enhanced Fluorescence Biosensors

• Microfluidic and Microsystem

• Personalized Cancer Medicine Research

• Systemic Approach to identify drug resistance related genes in cancer
