The Institute of Brain Science (IBS) of NYCU was established in the fall of 2006, with the Ph.D. program starting at fall 2008. IBS is located at the Library, Information and Research Building in the Yang-Ming campus of Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan. The ultimate goal of IBS is to solve the neurological and psychiatric diseases. Being a multi-disciplinary institution, faculties in IBS are organized into three groups each with specific research directions: Clinical Brain Science, Neuroengineering and Brainformatics, and Basic Brain Science. Current research areas include: functional brain imaging, clinical neurology and psychiatry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, neurophysiology, molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology.
