The Department was established in 1946 for the education of the middle and high level personnel for food processing, quality assurance, and product development. Currently, there are two classes for each year of four-year regular college and one class for each year of evening school. Totally, there are 12 classes in four-year college program. The main source of student is from the vocational high schools. Master program was established in 2003 and the special program of the Master for professional workers was established in 2008. The Department locates in Kaohsiung City, the biggest harbor and seafood processing center in Taiwan. Thus, the Department collaborates closely with local industry to offer the professional knowledge, enhance automatic processing, elevate the level of food personnel, processing techniques, and competition. The Graduate School is able to offer a higher level of training and professional personnel for research and development.
