The Department was established in 1946 with the name "Fishing Division". In 1980 with the expansion of educational functions and adjustment courses, the Department changed its name to "Fisheries Division". In 1990 with the upgrading to the technology college, the department changed to "Fisheries Department". In 2004 was transformed into a university of science and technology, the Department was renamed “Department of Fisheries Production and Management " so far.
