Positioning and Goals
Established in 1993, the department has made an “effective application of information technology” goal since its setup, so nurturing the students proficient in information technologies and management, preparing them to take on IT applications with information-based skills, and arming them with additional corporate competitiveness. Other than refining their information applications, the program is also committed to educating the students on the importance of advanced information technology and management know-how. In the process, we hope to ready our graduates for more explorative studies, or managerial positions in the workplace.
Program Characteristics
The bachelor's degree includes three main majors: division of Information Management, Information Technology, and Intelligent Network Application.
In addition to an undergraduate program, the department also houses a graduate program (set up in 1999), and continuing education program (set up in 2002) for a master's degree. The graduate programs provide not only an academic but excellent learning platform for veterans in the industry seeking an advanced degree. Both are dedicated to data analytics, AI applications, intelligent network application and other information technologies. These programs boast a strong faculty, emphasize curricula on theory and practice that range from big data analytics, software development, enterprise information application, business ethics, network application, to information security. The goal of these courses is to educate capable candidates to develop an aptitude for advanced studies and arm them with strong employment potentials.
Facility and Internships
The department houses four research centers, including Big Data Analytics & Intelligent Enterprise, Artificial Intelligence & Technological Living, Cloud & Intelligent Internet of Things, and BlockChain. These resources greatly facilitate teaching and research work.
Employment Prospects
Hands-on practice is a priority for department students to refine their programming skills. Thesis courses for graduation are rigorously monitored and conducted, requiring students to set up special task forces to complete themed presentations. Before participating in the graduation presentation, these graduates-to-be must first defend their work in a simulated oral exam. Both the faculty and the students have worked extremely hard on their presentations: their devotion has been strongly validated by the numerous awards they have earned in nationwide contests over the years.
Graduates can work as information administrators or information software developers in government agencies or business corporations. They can also work as MIS specialists or systems developers at software firms.
Designated Scholarships and Financial Aid
In a move to help our students acquire hands-on proficiency, we at the department have designed a series of licensing courses to help aspirants get professionally certify, and awarded.
