Established as the first Department of Taiwanese Literature in Taiwan, this program has a comprehensive range of courses covering: cultivation of students’ good manners and attitudes; the ability to appreciate and write Taiwanese literature; language skills for expression, teaching, and other literature-related professions; and an understanding of local cultures and worldview. Given such exquisite curricular design, this department stands out among institutions with the most professional and complete curriculum, strengthened by practical courses such as news writing, publishing and editing, playwriting for dramas, scripts for online games, advertising copywriting, and writing for children. Our students are also benefited by professionals invited to give tutorials to help develop students' prospects of career paths.
Directions of Further education: Study can enter postgraduate schools in relevant fields such as cultural and creative business, literature, art, culture, and language.
Directions of Employment: Working as language teachers at either formal schools or cram schools; becoming administrators, editors, or marketers in publishing houses or bookstores; pursuing careers in screenplay writing, theater planning, journalism, and at TV stations, or copywriters or administrators at advertising companies, journalists, news writers, or administrators for newspapers or magazines. Students may also prepare for taking exams for civil servants such as cultural affairs officers or personnel administration officers. Students can also find jobs related to writing or the cultural and creative industries.
