Perspective
The Department of Political Science is closely related to the Graduate Institute of Political Economy and the Department of Economics. Political science graduates may enter the graduate political science program or continue the graduate study in the interdisciplinary political economy program and the upcoming doctoral degree. The department will also foster the curriculum in regional studies including the studies of Taiwan, North-East Asia, and South-East Asia. In that way, we may not only develop an integrated research and teaching environment but also explore ourselves to the world.

Characteristics of Program
Of seven political science programs in the R.O.C., we are the only one in southern Taiwan. Compared with other universities, National Cheng Kung University offers students with solid fundamental education, curriculum liberty, and outstanding foreign language training. Students as a manner are expected to cultivate their creative, communicative, and managing capabilities. The curriculum is featured with emphasis on the general studies, flexible selection, foreign languages, and Asia-Pacific region, in addition to the fully support from the excellent university tradition. Yet in this great diversity, there remains a shared commitment to the understanding of real world. Students are expected to explore the political theories to domestic society and the surrounding Asia-Pacific countries.

Although the program is brand new, the support from other long-standing programs of the university provides an ideal diversified environment for education, let along the College of Social Sciences itself has offered enormous resources in teaching and research. In spite of its remote distance from the political center, National Cheng Kung University brings together the advantages of native features and global interaction. In short, with the scenic campus and delightful student activities, we hope to provide a best surrounding for students.
