Educational Objectives

Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering is the foundation to the entire manufacturing industry. Even high tech industries such as computer and IC manufacturing depend on precision manufacturing equipments. To help our nation raise its technology standard and production capability, our department trains students in both theories and applications in mechanical engineering. Our graduates possess the skills of designing, manufacturing, controlling, operating and maintaining machinery. In addition, they are familiar with integrated mechanical systems and manufacturing processes, and are able to conduct computer-aided design.

Department Outlook

The Department’s emphasis in teaching and research in the future will be in the following areas:
(1) Composite material and CAE （Computer-Aided Engineering）
(2) Micro-electro-mechanical systems
(3) Precision systems
(4) Mechatronics systems
(5) Computer-aided design and manufacturing
(6) Nano / Micro system development
