The institute was founded in 2010, as a result of the reorganization of the Institutes of Medical Research, the Institute of Life Sciences, and the Institute of Clinical Medical Sciences. The Institute is set-up with three educational programs for basic medicine, clinical science, and healthcare. It creates an educational environment based on the concept of pursuing truth through science, doing good ethically-based deeds, and achieving beauty through humaneness; it thus cultivates students' abilities in both scientific and independent thinking, as well as those of problem-solving by the use of scientific processes and lifelong learning. The Institute aims to cultivate expert professional in the medical sciences having innovation and application ability in medical research.
