The Department was founded in 1994 and renamed the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Biotechnology in 2003.

The Department includes a Master's Program, and two departmental programs for monitoring drug-abuse and biotechnology training. It emphasizes teaching in both theory and practice. Services in medical technology are core values of the Department.The Department attempts to reinforce abilities in approaching knowledge and in studying biotechnology for the medical laboratory. As a result, students will finally establish their independent thinking and learning ability.
