The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering was established in 1997, and started offering only an undergraduate program initially. In 2000, the department began offering a graduate program.
The department now has 9 full-time faculty members (consisting of 2 professors, 3 associate professors, and 4 assistant professors), and one full-time staff member. Each year the department admits about 50 undergraduates and 13 students to the master program.
The goal of the department is to offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in computer science and information engineering and to conduct academic research and professional training, which serve the needs of the information industry in the local area and the nation. We also put great emphasis on filling the gap between theory and practice.
