The courses focus on two main areas: "management" and "interpretation & communication". Through course practices, case studies, workshops, annual museum week and required internship, students will gain practical, hands-on experiences to meet industry requirements.

Core courses
Museum management, Museum collection management and registration, Museum education, Museum visitor research, Museum marketing, Exhibition design, Computer technology and digital museums.

Elective courses
The Institute offers a wide range of elective courses to choose from, including but not limited to Museum architecture, Museums and creative Industries, Trauma and museums, Museum and culture heritage, Museum project management, Chinese art history, Cultural policies and museums.

Mission and development
Graduate Institute of Museum Studies at Fu Jen University was founded in 2002 by Dr. Chou Kung-shin, former director of the National Palace Museum. The mission of the Institute is to train students to become museum professionals and to be qualified to do all kinds of jobs in the museum industry. As the first Graduate Institute of Museum Studies in a comprehensive university in the Asia Pacific region, the Institute focuses on the practical disciplines of museum studies and emphasizes both theory and practice. Therefore, our graduates are equipped with the abilities to work in museums and related industries in Taiwan, the Asia Pacific region and other countries. Our objective is to allow our students to be visionary, to work as a team, to have great learning abilities and to be passionate, which are in line with our university's motto: Veritas (Truth), Bonitas(Goodness), Pulchritudo(Beauty), and Sanctitas(Sanctity).
