Department of Life Sciences was founded in 1982 previously known as the Department of Biology. Our goals are educating and training students in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology and ecology. The department is located adjacent to the Medical school to strengthen collaboration between two institutes.

The M. Sc. and Ph.D. programs were established in 1993 and 1999, respectively. In 2004, the department changed its name to life sciences in response to technological advances in molecular biology and biotechnology, and the need to restructure the department. The department of Life sciences comprises all fields of science that involve the scientific study of living organisms. Our goals are not only fostering students with in depth theoretical knowledge in life sciences and innovative research, but also educate students understand the importance in conservation of our eco-system.
