The Department of Psychology was established under the School of Science in 1949. The M.S. program was inaugurated in 1961 and the Ph. D. program in 1971. Since its establishment is more than half a century ago, the Department has evolved into the most prominent psychology department in this country. Our aim is to nurture the academic and professional talents of psychology. We promote rigorous academic research, and a thorough inquiry into the nature of the human mind. This creates professionals capable of dealing with social psychological needs.
