The Department of Life Sciences of Tunghai University was established in 1949 and is one of the oldest departments in the university. The Department has set up a "purpose" to cultivate professionals in life sciences. The "Goal" is to cultivate students with basic scientific research capabilities and provide various teaching resources to encourage students to develop towards academic research, bio-industry, and diversification. At present, the Department of Life Sciences is divided into two groups: "Biomedicine" and "Ecology and Biodiversity" according to professional fields. The school's characteristics are to cultivate students with a full range of life science vision and healthy personality development. The courses offered cover a complete life science education from molecules, cells, tissues, organs, systems, individuals, inter-individuals, ecosystems, and performance chemistry. Through core courses and elective courses for academic groups, students have the ability to integrate and specialize. .
