Pursuing Public Health Excellence in Taiwan
I chose to study in Taiwan for my master's in public health because Taiwan provided a great opportunity to do so, with a full scholarship in my program of choice at a prestigious school. Taiwan's exemplary health system was another draw, as it provided an excellent model to learn from and follow. The safe environment in Taiwan was an added bonus that made my decision even easier.
I chose my school based on its strong reputation and its ability to prepare me for academic research after graduation. The program's focus on practical skills and research methodologies aligned perfectly with my career goals. I'm proud to get accepted to present my abstract at an international conference for emergency medicine in Taipei in June 2024. This opportunity has been a highlight of my academic journey in Taiwan.
After graduation, if given the opportunity to remain in Taiwan, I would love to pursue a Ph.D. in public health. My goal would be to work in an area where I can learn more about the intricacies of the health system and conduct further academic research. Taiwan's commitment to public health and research makes it an ideal place to continue my academic and professional journey.
Embracing Taiwan's Unique Offerings
What I love most about life in Taiwan is the efficient transportation system and the opportunity to explore a new culture. Learning about Taiwan's history and discovering all it has to offer has been an enriching experience. Outside of my studies, I particularly enjoy spending time with friends and traveling around the country.
My favorite places on campus are the track and the hiking area. I love running on the track, especially in the evening when it offers a breathtaking view of the city. The hiking area provides a much-needed escape from academic stress and a chance for adventure in nature.
Culturally, I've had the pleasure of experiencing the Moon Festival and Lunar New Year celebrations. Sharing these cultural activities and enjoying Taiwanese cuisine with local friends has been wonderful. I've also visited temples around Taipei, learning about different deities and traditions.
I arrived in Taiwan without any prior knowledge of Mandarin, and I must admit my language skills are still developing. The language barrier has been one of my greatest challenges, but I'm fortunate to have supportive friends and classmates who assist me in overcoming this hurdle.
Recommending Taiwan's Treasures
To friends and family, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Taiwan's monuments and museums, which I found particularly enriching. Exploring the country's natural beauty is a must, as Taiwan is rich in stunning landscapes. For those considering graduate studies, I would definitely endorse Taiwan's education system.
