National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) was established on February 1, 2018 by the merger of three universities that were National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, and National Kaohsiung Marine University. The Department of Business Administration, originally belonged to National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, was founded in August 1989 under the supervision of the Ministry of Education to replace the five-year vocational program.
The Department offers four-year bachelor program (since 1999), master program (since 2014) for day school, and four-year bachelor program (since 2004), master program (since 2000) for evening school, two-year bachelor program for weekend continuing education (since 1999). In August 2009, the Program of Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) was established. In accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Education, the Institute of EMBA became a master program of the Department of Business Administration. After the merge of the three universities, the EMBA program was renamed as EMBA of Business Administration and was listed under the College of Management.
The Department currently has six programs: four-year bachelor program (BBA) and master program (MBA) of day school, four-year bachelor program (BBA), master program (MBA) and EMBA program, two-year bachelor program of extension education (in-service program).
