-Introduction
The Department was instituted at the same time as the ISU was established in 1990. Currently, the Department has a student body of 400 and recruits two classes each year.
Based on the technologies, principles and practices of chemistry, chemical engineering is a discipline through which the materials vital for human life are quantitatively produced in the most economical and safe fashion. Along with the development of modern technologies, the field of chemical engineering has become increasingly broader than ever before. Chemical engineers are constantly confronted with the tasks of not only improving human life by using ever-lasting innovative technologies, whilst also cleaning and protecting the environment from being polluted by using their expertise. In order to face the challenges of ever-growing strictness, the education of chemical engineering has become faceted and has progressively improved along with time.

-Teaching and Research
In line with the requirements of modern life, the Department has integrated Applied Chemistry, Material Sciences, and Biological Technologies into its curricula. Also based on the idea of parallel education combining “principles and applications” and “teaching and experiments”, the Department offers some courses related to leading-edge technologies of chemical engineering, such as Material Science and Biological Technologies, etc., other than the core courses. Students are future trained and aided in terms of career development through various field tours to related factories.
In order to better train the chemical engineering personnel, the department has a distinguished faculty composed of 1 Chair Professor, 4 professors, 10 associate professors, 5 assistant professors with doctoral degrees and 1 lecturer. Students are encouraged to join the research team of each faculty based on their expertise.
