Shih Hsin University is renowned for its specializations in journalism and communications studies. With this strong background, the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property and Communication Technology Law is established with a focus on communications laws, information technology law, and intellectual property law.
The goal of the Institute is twofold: 1) to train IPR lawyers/professionals, patent attorneys, etc., and 2) to prepare academics who specialized in intellectual property law and communication/information law.
The curriculum of the Institute centers on the IPR courses comparative legal studies, IPR strategies and litigation. Also, Institute offers the seminars for IPR researchers whereby small groups of students could work closely with faculty on legal research.
With the sisterhood agreement between Shih-Hsin University and Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), the Institute annually provides opportunities for outstanding students to participate in the summer intensive IP program hosted and organized by OIT, thereby engaging students in studying the latest IPR issues along with renowned lawyers and entrepreneurs. The English-based program is demanding, however valuable, to students.
After graduation, students can land their jobs at law firms or enterprises as IPR lawyers, patent attorneys, or IPR specialists. Besides, many alumni have successful careers in the financial and telecommunication industries, high-tech companies, media, and academia.
