1   Being ranked number one among the private universities (Group III) by the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA), Ministry of Education (MOE)

  Asia University achieved six distinctions for a higher education (private universities, group III) evaluation assessment conducted by the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) at 2005. The six areas of distinctions include: social sciences, engineering, internationalization, continuing education and administration supporting.

     

2   Being granted an honored project of “Teaching Excellence” by the Ministry of Education (MOE)

  Asia University received the “Teaching Excellence “ funding from MOE in the last four consecutive years. An amount of NTD 83,000,000 was awarded to the university this year. Among the new universities (less than 10 years old), Asia University is the only one that received such funding from MOE. Since year 2006, Asia University had received a total of NTD 254,000,000 “Teaching Excellence “ funding from MOE.

     

3   Elegant and artistic campus – National Architecture Excellency Award

  Asia University continuously constructs buildings with elegant Greek or Romanian styles. There are three lily ponds and various plants in the campus, forming a garden university with cherry blossoms in Spring, lily flowers in Summer, Hong Kong orchids in Autumn, and full-blown roses in Winter

     

4   Strong faculty members

  All the faculty members hold a Ph.D degree from prestige universities. Two of the faculty members are IEEE fellows. A majority of the faculty obtained their Ph.D degree within the last ten years, and the d6epartment holds various vigorous research programs.

     

5   Strong academic curriculum

  The department has a strong though flexible curriculum. All the undergraduate students are required to take several core courses; such as bioinformatics programming, basic bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics and computational molecular biology, and elective courses (machine learning). In addition, the undergraduate curriculum delivers two advance courses options; (i) the bioinformatics oriented, and (ii) the medical informatics oriented programs, to suite the student interests.

     

6   Solid and diverse course program

  Being supported by the variety of the faculty academic background, the department is able to provide a solid and diverse curriculum with approximately equal number of biological and informatics courses. For instance, the department provides courses such as genomic, proteomic, microarray data analysis, drug design, database systems, web programming, data mining and image processing.
