In recent years under the government policy of boosting tourism as a newly developed industry, a bachelor's degree program in of Hospitality Management was established to enhance the quality and quantity of tourism-related professionals. The original program was directed at hospitality, tourism, and leisure recreation industries. However, in order to specify the position and direction of this department more clearly and professionalize curriculum to provide a well-planned and appropriate hospitality management curriculum, the program development will be clearer and in compliance with industry development. Thus, curriculum of this program will be guided by hospitality teachings, allowing students to understand dynamics of practical skills and industrial development of hospitality management and to deepen their knowledge in hospitality operation, thus training professionals of hospitality industry can be complete.

To comply with specification development of “baking”, a minor program of baking and hospitality management was established under the hospitality management degree program. Baking program emphasizes on bread, pastry and cake making, further training baking professionals, while hospitality management program focuses on training restaurant and hotels professional management talents. In this program there are 17 full-time professors, of which 94% are assistant professors, and 26 part-time lecturers with ample practical experience. Core courses of this degree program contain content of professional certification exams related to employment, beneficial for students to obtain certificates. With resourceful teaching faculty, comprehensive curriculum planning, and solid professional learning facilities, the department provides an outstanding platform that will match graduates and future career condition with great precision and completeness.

所重點發展之特色
本系在系務發展方向與特色,主要是配合管院所設定的關連性策略:
1.推動課程學群/學程化、提升學習品質與教學績效;
2.加強學生就業能力與機會,建構Topping教學與三明治教學,有效結合學界與業界的聯繫,
並加強學生核心能力的培養與實務的學習,期能培養「多元化休閒產業人才」。
因此以實務專題、實習與專題講座為三大發展特色,其分述如下:
(一)專題:以課程為教學主軸,大一為基礎課程能力之養成,
大二開始則以專業課程為主,並輔以專題強化學生專長。
專題為大三開始的課程,為期一年,每半年發表一次,藉由老師與同學的相互討論,
期能訓練學生邏輯養成及上台報告台風的培養,更重要的是,透過團隊合作所執行的專題,
除了知能的訓練之外,更能讓學生養成團隊合作、互相討論的習慣。

(二)實習:實習部分除了配合管院的Topping教學之外,還有透過業者提供的實習機會,
讓學生在就學階段就可以先接觸不同的產業,瞭解產業生態與工作環境,
除了提升學生實際操作的能力之外,亦能縮短學生與業界的距離。

(三)專題講座:專題講座則透過邀請專家學者、業界先進等,透過講座的方式,
讓學生可以事先接觸到業界動脈、瞭解業界生態,能對業界實際狀態有些瞭解,
除了讓學生可以透過講座多吸收新知外,亦可讓專家學者、業界先進認識本系,
進而更願意提供其他交流機會。
