Established in 1999, the mission of the Department of Product Design is to offer students with visioning, innovation, Rén-oriented thinking, and professional design abilities. Its approach incorporates cultural, scientific, and technological developments to improve the quality of life and to carry out the educational objectives of product design with equal emphasis on both design theories and practice. We emphasize design theory and practice through multi-facet design activities, 8-week international design education programs, design competitions, and collaboration with relevant industries. Courses are composed of three main modules including Industrial Design, Craft Design, and Digital Design. We offer both bachelor's degree and master's degree of design.

The Graduate School of Product Design Department, established in 2012, aims at providing students with advanced design theories and techniques in order to meet the developmental needs of cultural and creative industries. The educational areas, including industrial design and craft design, can effectively fulfill professional demands for on-the-job students in southern Taiwan. With an intensive curriculum and implementation, students' innovation and management capabilities will be highly enhanced and will meet the needs of the future job market.


Industry Design:
Besides proposing basic courses for improving the quality of design, the department stresses education in advanced design thinking and practical techniques. The department offers rigorous training and instruction in user research, problem finding and solving, concept development, prototyping, and engineering implementation.
Craft Design:
Pottery classes, glass classes, metal classes, and woodworking classes are included in the curriculum. The emphasis of potteryart and glass products is applied to practical products of culture-based gift items, decorative products, and daily wares.The design of wood and bamboo products is mainly for furniture, decorative articles, and wooden toys. The focus of metal classes is on the study and creation of metal art and jewellery.
Digital Design:
Our department accentuates the education of CAD beginning with computer graphics design, going into advanced courses of 3D computer aided form design, 3D computer aided engineering design, 3D computer animation and visual reality design, and combining the courses of industry design, reverse engineering and rapid prototype to help students master the leading equipment and techniques in the current industry business.

系所簡介
樹德科技大學生活產品設計系於1999年成立於南台灣高雄，以提升人的文化品味為核心，以「體貼生活、關懷生命、道不遠人」為設計思維，將生活中所觸及之標準化及客製化的相關產品列為主要關心的議題。教學上以工業設計之程序方法為核心，結合數位設計之運算技術，工藝設計之媒材美感涵養，亦鏈結相關產業，搭配多元的交流活動與競賽，強調學生實務技能之養成，並使其具備前瞻的創新思維及優越的人文涵養。

生活產品設計系考量國內產業結構需求，以特色化、優質化、多元化、國際化為主要發展方向，藉由設計人才的培育、設計專業的訓練、多元能力的養成、學術與產業的結合、設計教學之國際交流等，進行產品企劃、產品創新、產品開發、智財布局等之專業知能傳授與實務執行，以提升產品整體價值，促進我國產業發展、產業升級及產業轉型。

為因應當代文化創意產業與生活用品產業的發展需求，本系除四技日間部及四技進修部外，於2012年設立「碩士在職專班」，藉由高階專業課程的導入及工坊創作的實施，為南高屏地區提供在職人士進修機會，以培養中高階生活產品設計人才，將專業的養成與未來的就業相結合，共創雙贏的局面。
