History
The Department of Digital Multimedia Design was established in 2006 with the aim to cultivate specialized designers for digital tech industries.

Educational Objectives
The primary goal of the Department is to train and promote student’s technique in the fields of animation, game design and post-production. Students are required to possess various technical proficiency and are looked forward to becoming the versatile designers in the industry.

Faculty
The Department has 11 full-time faculty members (7 of them with PhD degree), including 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, and 3 lecturers. All part-time faculty members have master’s degrees with practical industry experiences.

Special Features
The Department mainly focuses on three aspects:

• 2D/3D Animation

• Post-production

• Game design

The courses can provide students to learn 1) basic concepts of digital multimedia design, 2) developmental strategies of a project based on teamwork and cooperation, 3) animation and interactive game design process, and 4) overviews of digital design, responsibilities, and strong work ethics.

Educational Programs
The 4-year bachelor degree program is provided in the department.

Facilities
The resources of the department include Virtual Movie Studio, Advanced Computer Studios, Animation Studio, Digital Sound Effect studio, Virtual Reality Laboratory, Undergraduate Project Workspace and an exhibition center.

Curriculum
The courses are focused in three aspects:

• Core courses: Theory and Application of Colors, Sketch, Multimedia, Computer Graphic Design, Web Design, Theory of Human-Factor Engineering, etc.

• Digital Game Courses: 2D/3D Animation Basics, Game Engine Programming Design, Interactive Programming Design, Game Industry Analysis, etc.

• Digital Media Courses: Digital Photography and Non-linear Editing, Commercial Design, Multimedia Database System, Interactive Interface Design, Special Topics of Culture and Creativity Business, etc.

The integration of these courses from different fields will provide students with greater understanding for future research.

Career
The fields of digital multimedia design offer a wide variety of occupational opportunities for graduates. The graduates can expect to be employed as 3D animators, game designers, web developers, logo designers, network designers and private consultants. Some graduates are also pursuing graduate studies in Multimedia Design, Visual Communication Design, Institute of Cultural and Creative Enterprise, etc.
