◎History
The Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology has been established in 2003 in order to enhance our ability of drug development research.

◎Educational Objective
We prepare students to fit the requirements of being a pharmacist. We also train students to fulfill the development of pharmaceutical industry, including Chinese and Western medicine manufacturing, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy management and drug marketing and other professional knowledge.

◎Educational System
- Offer the Bachelor program B.S (Day Division) and the Master program.

- The Bachelor program includes the following tracks:
1. Clinical pharmacy: the courses contain general and professional pharmacy、 clinical pharmacy、 pharmacy counseling、 pharmacokinetic、 clinical toxicology and clinical inspection and analysis, and students are required to practice in the teaching hospital for at least one semester.
2. Pharmaceutical technology: the courses contain Chinese medicine manufacturing、biotechnology、pharmaceutical synthesis and purification、 industrial pharmacy、pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the students are required to practice in the biotechnology company or drug company for at least one semester.
3. Pharmacy operation: The courses contain general and professional pharmacy、 the drug marketing、 pharmacy management、 pharmacy distribution management, and the students are required to practice in the chain drugstore, the community pharmacy, or the drug company.
◎Faculty Members
There are 27 faculties who are specialized in the vast pharmaceutical areas in our department. Including 10 professors, 15 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, and 1 lecturer, 24 of them own doctoral degrees, and 3 acquire master's degrees.

◎Teaching and Research Facilities
Besides the research room for our faculties, there are several specialized facilities in our department, such as the Chinese medical researching center, practicing drugstore for the students, the animal experimental laboratory, the computer lab, and two audio-visual classrooms. Tajen also consists Instrumentation Center which accommodates a 400MHz NMR spectrometer, Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Fluorescence Reader, Infrared Spectrophotometers, Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometers, Amino Acid Analyzer, Polymerase Chain Reaction, Freeze-dryer, Ultra High Speed Centrifuge, and Dissolution Testers.

◎Career Prospects
After graduation, students are able to participate the Higher Examination for pharmacists and government officers to obtain Pharmacist License and the qualification to work in the government hospital. Then, graduates can work in the hospital pharmacy, drug companies, independent or chain pharmacies. Newly graduates with Pharmacist License will receive the starting pay from $45000-60000 NTD per month which is two times higher than general graduates, and they often have higher chances for the promotion.
