The Institute of History, established in 1985, has Ph.D and Master’s programs. The students in Master program are subdivided into two groups, those studying general history (including Taiwanese, Chinese, and world history), and those interested in the history of science, technology and medicine. The instructors of the Institute offer courses in Chinese and in English, among them there are scholars who obtained their doctoral degrees in leading universities of Taiwan, Europe, and North America and are well known worldwide; they maintain contacts with their foreign counterparts working in leading universities. The courses taught in the Institute cover various domains, such as intellectual history, history of civilizations, social history, history of science, technology and medicine, art history, and history of international relations, among others. With solid training offered by the Institute, its graduates obtained research and teaching positions in educational institutions in Taiwan and worldwide.
