The Department of Tourism and Leisure Management has been hailed as the only department boosting Taiwan’s “medical tourism.” It aims to cultivate a group of professionals able to develop tour packages and provide informative guides in medical tourism. Its courses are designed on the basis of preventive medicine and tourism development, emphasizing authentic operation models. The courses are divided into three stages.
In the first stage, students are trained and instructed by teachers, local tour guides and international tour organizers. Secondly, they work under the supervision of YUMT’s travel center to gain hands on experience. In the final stage, they can intern with professional premises locally or verseas to broaden their horizons.
