The Department was founded in 1994 and the master's program was established in 2003.
The Department emphasizes teaching in both research and practice. It attempts to develop teaching and research in various fields including environmental and occupational hygiene, epidemiology, biostatistics, health administration and management, and socio-behavioural sciences. It thus nurtures professional public health experts that possess ability in both practice and research.
