1. Department Characteristics
This institute provides students with the training of interdisciplinary studies in social sciences and
the skills of analyzing and solving practical issues.
Upholding the fine tradition for decades and carrying it forward to the future, the institute offers the
courses emphasizing the fusion of studies on national development and Mainland China, including the
theories and experiences of developments in Taiwan and Mainland China, cross-strait relations, the
situation of East Asia and globalization, as well as the contemporary significance of Sun Yat-sen’s thought.
These courses form a learning process from near to far and interlocked with each other.
Through the training offered by the institute, we hope to broaden students’ international vision, develop
their abilities both in theory and practice, and teach them to have an in-depth comprehension of national
development.

2. Educational Goals
●To obtain the ability of interdisciplinary studies in social sciences and the skill of analyzing and solving practical issues in order to be able to interpret the contemporary significance of Sun Yat-sen’s thought.
●Based on the study of national development, to develop global vision and local awareness in order to be able to handle the studies on Mainland China and cross-strait relations.
●To educate in the fields of globalization, regional development, cross-strait relations, the situation of Mainland China, and the experience of Taiwan’s development.
●Combining theory with practice, to cultivate talents with the training of interdisciplinary studies in order to serve the society.
●Offering the master degree on Mainland China Studies teaching in English for international students.
