History

The Institute of the Law of the Sea was originally established in August 1977 under the name of Group A, Institute of Oceanography, College of Science and Engineering , National Taiwan Ocean University. And the Institute offered an educational program leaded to the MA degree.

Beginning on 1 August 1991, this Institute run as an teaching and research graduate institute and enjoyed statutes under the ecospecies of the Ministry of Education. The educational program leaded to the LL. M. degree since 1992.

In 2003, the Institute offered the Ph.D. degree.
