This integrated project is intended to invite outstanding international students with information background and social work background to come to Taiwan to work with Asia University (AU) students to design a companion robot that conveys the warmth of social workers. For a long time, the first-line social workers in Taiwan have suffered from high pressure and overwork, and often burnout. In the era of AI, they hope to use technology to simulate social workers for warm care, to maintain the service quality of social workers and to solve the workload of social workers.
Project time period: April to August 2019
Plan execution method: International students recruited by this program will work with AU Information and social work students to design companion robots that are used by Taiwanese elders.
Participants will personally experience the special needs of the elderly at the long-term care sites as an important reference for designing companion robots.
The study course is designed by the full-time teachers of both schools. The needs assessment is led by social workers working with International students. The arrangement of the internship organization is requested by the social work department.
