The internship is designed for students interested in wind turbine, plasma torch and ship technology. You can learn numerical modeling skills for designing wind turbine rotors, hollow electrodes of plasma torches and hull forms of ships. In additional to numerical modeling skills, the internship also provides hand-on sessions where the models are fabricated via 3D printing technology. You can learn the approach to model the airflow around wind turbines for the purpose of predicting their power and noise characteristics as well as to assess the interaction between wind turbines in a wind farm. The plasma torch research covers the mathematical background to model a magnetohydrodynamic flow created by a rotating dc arc, where the kinetics of species are also possibly considered for the destruction processes. Ship research is focused on the hydrodynamic modeling of ship flow with/without free surface to evaluate the resistance, propulsion and maneuvering behaviors. In the hand-on sessions the wind turbine rotor model or ship models are fabricated via 3D printing machines. These models are computer-aided designed, numerically analyzed then experimentally tested. Students interested in fluid mechanics, parallel programming and engineering computation are recommended to participate in this internship offered at ESOE, National Taiwan University.
