「TEEP@AsiaPlus」NIU: IoT, 5G, AI

Internet of Things have been vigorously advocated and heavily invested over the past few years. AI has also made strong progress in a broad spectrum of areas such as image recognition and board games. 5G mobile communication technology has unveiled a vast number of wireless connection technologies, which allow more and more IoT devices to be redefined with new functions and applications. Cloud and edge computing have, on the other hand, allowed data to be collected and analyzed more efficiently. Thus, information collected by IoT sensors can be processed on the edge computing devices to reduce the latency, which is critical to spurring novel applications. At the 2018 Mobile World Congress Americas annual exhibition in Los Angeles, California, GSMA uses "Intelligent Connectivity" to describe the huge transformations created by IoT, 5G and AI integration. AI and 5G make the Internet of Things more intelligent, while the movement of cloud services toward the edge allows the intelligent application of the Internet of Things to popularize smart applications. Participants in the project will have an opportunity to investigate various research topics related to the above areas to gain real experience and insights, and publish their findings in conferences or journals.
