Introduction
The main role of the Department of Aquatic Biosciences is to support research and education on basic and applied biology of aquatic organisms, with the ultimate goal of fostering the supply and conservation of aquatic resources. For this purpose, it is fundamental to understand the life-history of many aquatic organisms and their interactions with the surrounding environment. Based on this knowledge, methods to promote the reproduction and growth of aquatic animals and plants as well as for the wise use of natural living resources can be developed. Sea-farming
and intensive aquaculture are two methods to artificially raise resources and implement their programmed harvesting.

Curriculum Planning for Undergraduate Students
To meet with the continuing development of the aquatic biotechnology and aquaculture industry, the Department of Aquatic Biosciences is conducting various academic research and practical skills training under the principle of aquatic ecology conservation. Additionally, one of our missions is to cultivate our students into becoming research personnel in life sciences and related industries. We have collaborated with professional research teams and fisheries research institutes to enforce academia industry collaboration and extension service. Therefore, we promote aquatic sciences and biotechnology in Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan areas.

Curriculum Planning for Postgraduate Students
The Department of Aquatic Bioscience aims to conduct on both aquatic biotechnologies and the practical experience of the aquaculture industry. The teaching and research of the department is to cultivate students to have current knowledge of biotechnologies and production experience. The aspects include aquatic environment and ecology, aquaculture reproduction techniques and health management, aquatic feeds and baits, AI agriculture research and development, and aquatic biotechnologies. The research area promotes the fundamentals and applications of aquaculture and aquatic biology and expends international connections. The students can now apply for the International Linkage Program on Tropical Fisheries (ILP) master's program, a joint program of seven
universities in Japan and Southeast Asia. Students who enroll in the program can take courses in the seven universities and pursue a dual-master degree
