With the goal of educating students specialized in materials designing, production, research and development, the Department provides courses on processing, characterization, and property control of a wide variety of materials, including metals, ceramics, electronic materials, biomedical materials, composites, high temperature superconductors, polymers, and even the recently fast-developing nanomaterials. The graduates are encouraged to continue on advanced materials research or join the industry for the challenge of materials science and engineering.
為了使學生專精於材料設計、生產、研究和發展的目標，本系提供製程、特性和各式各樣的材料研究，包括金屬、陶瓷、電子材料、生物醫用材料、複合材料、高溫超導體、高分子，甚至近期快速發展的奈米材料。鼓勵畢業生繼續進階的材料研究或加入材料工程就業的挑戰。
