I’m Kotchaphon, from Thailand. I’m an exchange student at Shih Chien University for one semester. I really enjoy my time here in Taiwan.

1. What made you decide to study in Taiwan?

Since I’m on my last semester for my bachelor degree, I like to use my time efficiently. So I decided to join an exchange program with the partner university that is available. I choose to study in Taiwan because I have been visited Taiwan before and I really love the country. Taiwan has many natural and scenic views. The transportation around the city is also very convenient. The cost of living is affordable, not much different from Thailand, and have a friendly environment that suitable for stay and study.

2. Briefly tell us about the program you are studying. What subjects are you studying? What have you enjoyed the most in your studies?



Currently, I study in English Taught Program in International Business at Shih Chien University.

My courses are all related to the business and they are all taught in English. I also have a Chinese language class here which is very fun. I am so impressed with how well-prepared the University has in accommodating the international students and I am very happy with the welcoming that is present in the University. What I am enjoyed most in my study is I feel as if I were one of the Taiwanese students, I don’t feel as if I’m “foreigner student” or “outsider” because I can study in the same classes with Taiwanese student and the students are very friendly.

3. How is studying in Taiwan when compared to studying and being a student in your home country? (Teaching Quality、Environment、School Equipment、Laboratory or others)

Study in Taiwan has some different from study in Thailand. In Taiwan, we have to be more self-reliance and learn by ourselves more in our free time. The environment here is also very good as I have more friends from all around the world, and it is very interesting to share our experiences and exchange cultures. The classroom is not too big, and the teachers are very friendly which are easier for me to ask questions or do the discussion during class. The school has all basic equipment like projector and computer available.

4. What has been the most difficult part about applying to study in Taiwan? How did you overcome the difficulty?

The hardest thing is during the process of application. I tried to search for more information about the courses on the website, but most of them are all in Chinese. Later, by talking with the university’s international affair, they are very friendly and helpful in providing more information and tell me about the application process, so everything went smoothly.

5. What do you plan to do after you have finish your studies in Taiwan? Would you like to stay in Taiwan?  Why? 

After I finished my studies in Taiwan, I have to go back to Thailand in order to graduate. However, I really enjoy my time in Taiwan and I’d like to find a scholarship to come back and study my master degree here.

6. How do you think studying in Taiwan can benefit you in your future career?

First of all, by study in Taiwan, I developed my adaptation skill and problem-solving skill which can help me greatly in my career in the future. Moreover, I have improved my English communication skills and learned a new language which is Chinese. I believe this will help strengthen my resume and will be easier for me to find a job in the future.

7. What do you see as your key achievements when studying in Taiwan?

I have developed myself in many aspects. I learned to be more independent and learned to more flexible in the different cultures and live there. I learned not only Taiwan cultures but also have an opportunity to know more about my friends’ cultures. I get many new friends from all around the world and it made you become more open-mind person and have more self-confident. I also develop problem-solving skill and be more creative when I study in Taiwan.

8. What advice do you have for other interested overseas students who want to come to Taiwan to study?

I highly recommend for others who choose to come and study in Taiwan. You will get memorable experiences, have many new friends, and learn new cultures and language. It is the best choice I made when decided to come here, so don’t hesitate and just come!
