I have planned to pursue my master degree in MBA since I just graduated from my undergraduate degree. I have done much research on MBA program in universities all around the world. I ended up choose Taiwan because Taiwan is one of Asia country that has international style market. Taiwan market is a global market. Taiwan is also a perfect place for learning Chinese which is a very important language nowadays. Taiwan is also a very nice living country with friendly citizens who willing to help foreigners who cannot speak Chinese. Taiwan living expense is also not too expensive and still affordable for me as an Indonesian.
I am studying International Master Business Administration (IMBA). This program is an English graduated 2-years program that has 4 concentration options. Basically, this program is learning everything related to business, especially in real practice. This program is an International program and this program in my university, NCCU, get dual accreditation by AACSB and EQUIS.
I have many things to be enjoyed during my studies. What I enjoyed the most is that I can meet many people from many different countries with different background, language, culture, and way of think. Not only meet, but also interact, work together, and do cultural exchange with them. Those enrich my knowledge and experience so much.
The first thing I feel so different is the education culture. Indonesia and Taiwan education culture is so different. I think that education in Taiwan (especially in university) not only teach theoretically or motivate students to get high score, but they also emphasize the process and the effort students give. In Indonesia, people usually will emphasize more on academic score.
I do like my university environment. My university located in one of Taipei mountainside. I feel like I live on a mountain and it is so nice for me. I can feel mountain atmosphere and view every day. Moreover, I can get perfect environment for study in peace without any disturbances from others. In Indonesia, not so many (almost no) famous or high-quality universities located in the mountainside.
The most difficult part is language barrier. Some of Taiwan universities website only provide information in Chinese language. Due to my not so good Chinese, I found it so difficult.
I am trying to find the English version of the university information or go through google translates or other sources on Internet rather than just the school website. I also ask for more detail information to Taiwan Education Center representative in my city and some friends who also studied in Taiwan.
I will stay in Taiwan if I can find job-related to my field of study and my interest. I will still consider staying for a few years in Taiwan because I find that Taiwan is a convenient country to live in. I also want to improve my Chinese ability by living here and practice speaks Chinese more and more. The salary Taiwan companies offer for foreigner is also at good rate for me. I think I can afford my life in Taiwan by working by myself.
Taiwan is one of Asia country that has global business market. In Taiwan I can see how Asia market works and acculturates with global international market. I can interact with many specialists and businessmen who have many experiences in business from many different fields. Not only for Asia market but also global market. In class, I also learn how to put each theory into real business practices. Those will broad up my networking and also my knowledge that I can use for my future business career.
