National Taipei University of Technology (TAIPEI TECH) was established in 1912. As a pioneering academic institute dedicated to industrial education and with over a century of long-standing history and experience in education, Taipei Tech has nurtured numerous technical professionals. Since 1912, over 90,000 students have graduated from Taipei Tech. At home and abroad, they have demonstrated outstanding achievements in professional fields as well as academic arenas.

Now, as internationalization is a key strategy of Taipei Tech, the university has established 6 English taught programs especially for international students. The principal objective of these degree programs is to prepare students by acquiring the knowledge and developing the skills necessary for career advancement in a global context.

Campus

Taipei Tech is located at the center of the Taipei Metro System and offers a cosmopolitan lifestyle. Students of Taipei Tech not only enjoy a world-class education, but also have easy access to famous landmarks such as Taipei 101 and the Palace Museum.

Currently Taipei Tech has approximately 10,000 students, including about 770 foreign students from 52 countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Malaysia, etc. from Asia; the Gambia, Swaziland, Sao Tome and Principe, Burkina Faso, etc. from Africa; Panama, Honduras, Ecuador, Paraguay, Haiti, etc. from the Americas; Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Serbia from Europe; and Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands from Oceania.

Taipei Tech provides a friendly learning environment for a growing number of international students. Students are encouraged to share their different cultural experiences with each other in and outside the classroom.

Taipei Tech values students' experience and invites foreign students to experience special holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, Moon Festival, and Lunar New Year in Taiwan. The biggest event is the International Festival, which is an occasion for international students to share their home cultures with domestic students in Taiwan.

Dormitory

1. Dormitory Information

Taipei Tech Dormitories include different residence halls that are situated on campus and off campus (Tucheng, New Taipei City). The average traveling time from Taipei Tech off-campus dormitory to the campus is approximately 30 minutes via Taipei Metro.

Beginning from the Academic Year 2016, new students are eligible to reside at Taipei Tech Dormitories for the first 2 years. Residence spaces at Taipei Tech Dormitories from the 3rd year onwards will be decided by lottery and not guaranteed to all. Students entering their 3rd year of study should be prepared to reside elsewhere.



2. Dormitory Fees

Dormitory cost for Taipei Tech On Campus Dormitory: NT$10,900 (around US$370) per person for one semester (including NT$1,000 deposit, which will be refunded when checking out), extra fees will be charged for using AC and laundry machines.

Dormitory cost for Taipei Tech Haishan Dormitory (off campus): NT$8,500 (around US$285) per person for one semester (including NT$1,000 deposit, which will be refunded when checking out), extra fees will be charged for using AC and laundry machines.

Dormitory costs for summer and winter breaks are charged separately. Please ask the dormitory management for rates.

NOTE: The decision of residence hall allocation rests with Taipei Tech.



3. Dormitory Facilities

All rooms are quad rooms equipped with basic furniture such as desk lamp, desk, chair, wardrobe, an AC (Students need to buy the AC card for using the AC).

Restaurants, a sports field, a volleyball court, basketball court, and car park are right next to the dormitory.

A kitchen with fridge and microwave is exclusively provided to international students.

Office of International Affairs

  The Office of International Affairs at National Taipei University of Technology was established on August 1, 2010, to enhance the internationalization of the university through the recruitment of more foreign students and the promotion of more exchange and collaboration with foreign partners. Integrating the International Student Section from the Office of Academic Affairs and the International Cooperation Section from the Research and Development Office, OIA strives to better serve the growing needs of Taipei Tech as it pursues the goals of internationalization.

  The OIA staff believe that “internationalization” means more than the number of foreign students or collaborative projects. We consider it our mandate to create a learning and research environment with a global vision. The expansion of internationalized education, research and collaboration and their higher visibility on the campus are our present objectives as OIA assists our faculty and students in their quest for internationalization and excellence.

Chinese Language Training Center aims to nurture and offer a complete and professional Chinese language course to foreign students, and be able to apply Chinese in daily conversation. In addition, to be open-minded and be globalized in order to inherence Chinese culture and promote international cooperation and culture exchange.
This center is established for not only helping people from different cultural and linguistic background learn Chinese language, but also making them fall in love with Chinese and the beauty of Taiwan.
