National Chiayi University was formed in February 2000 by merging two existing colleges in Chiayi, i.e., National Chiayi Institute of Technology (NCIT) and National Chiayi Teachers College(NCTC). The University now has six colleges, which include 7 doctoral programs, 39 full-time master’s degree programs, 12 part-time master’s degree programs, and 41 undergraduate programs. NCYU is one of the oldest and largest universities in the southern part of Taiwan.
The University comprises four campuses and a practicum forest, for a total land mass of 285.32 hectares. The four campuses include the Lantan Campus, Minsyong Campus, Sinmin Campus and Linsen Campus. Lantan Campus, the administration headquarter is situated in the well-known scenic area between Lantan Reservoir and Renyitan Reservoir. It accommodates the College of Agriculture, College of Science and Engineering and College of Life Sciences. Minsyong Campus, situated in Minsyong Township, accommodates the Teachers College and College of Humanities and Arts. Sinmin Campus, situated in the center of Chiayi City, accommodates College of Management. A variety of extension and lifelong learning programs are offered in Linsen campus to provide educational service to the local community. The practicum forest offers students of related professions hands-on experiences in the field. In conclusion, the four campuses and the practicum forest have their own unique characteristics while they appropriately complement each other.
*Academic Exchange and International Cooperation
Since its establishment in 2000, National Chaiyi University (NCYU) has been actively engaged in globalization. The University offers students and faculty members opportunities to develop intercultural competence through different types of exchange and collaborative research programs. At present, the University is cooperating with universities in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Paraguay, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. These overseas institutions include Cardiff University (U.K.); Institut National Polytechnique Toulouse (France); Hankyong National University (Korea); International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef. Bonn (Germany); Lincoln University (New Zealand); National University of Asuncion (Paraguay); New England University (Australia); Nova Scotia Agriculture College (Canada); Meiji University (Japan); Texas A&M University – Commerce (U.S.A). The University also supports the development of a global perspective for faculty members and students to participate in international conferences and to join the short-term exchange programs at the international institutions.

The University owns four campuses and a 117.02-hectare experimental forest, covering around 285.32 hectares in total.
The Lantan (Orchid Lake) campus is the main campus where the University’s administration building is located. It lies between the famous Orchid Lake and Jenyi Reservoir amid more than 128.51 hectares of lush woods. Colleges of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Science & Engineering are located on this beautiful campus, with each department housed in newly constructed buildings that are fully equipped with teaching and learning facilities. The laboratories, factories, ranches, livestock farms, and veterinary hospital provide students with ample opportunities to combine theory with practice. The stadium, sports field, swimming pool, gymnasium, and Student Activity Center provide a broad spectrum of recreational programs.
The Minghsiung Campus is located in a newly developed town in Minghsiung, about 20.33 kilometers from downtown Chiayi. It is close to Minghsiung Station and Highway 1. With an area of 19.93 hectares, the campus accommodates the College of Humanities and Arts and the Teachers College, which consists of around 2000 students. The campus used to be the main campus of National Chiayi Teachers College and is complete with a library, labs, sports facilities, standard swimming pool, stadium, dormitories, concert hall, park, and beautiful pond.
The Hsinming Campus has an area of 15.58 hectares and is located at the heart of Chiayi City. It is now being remodeled to accommodate the College of Management.
The Linsen campus is located in Chiayi City with convenient access to public transportation. Its area covers 4.86 hectares and accommodates the Division of Continuing and Extension Education. Many trees and flowers line the campus roads and around buildings, offering pleasant views everywhere. Facilities include sports fields, swimming pool, music rooms, computer classrooms, and two student dormitories, where students can exercise, relax, and pursue their intellectual desires.
Dormitory of student guidance: student dormitory are distribute over 5 part, they can accommodate about 3800 students. The costs for regular students range from NT$9,000 to NT$20,000 per semester per student, including internet and utility services. Dormitory surrounding is peace and quite, facility is faultless. We not only have telephone and internet but also have restaurant ,social hall..and so on . We also have school police stay in dormitory for 24 hours.
Every semester we hold the relate activity regularly like firework festival, Moon Festival, Chrismas day…and so on
