National Central University, NCU, is located in Jhongli, Taoyuan, Taiwan and it has become a home to more than 12,000 students. Currently NCU has 8 colleges, 22 undergraduate programs and 50 graduate programs. NCU is also one of the members of the University System of Taiwan (UST), sharing resources with National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Yang Ming University.

We have been selected twice in “The Aim for the Top University Project”, receiving grants from the Ministry of Education. The University has consistently been evaluated as “Excellent”. We are ranked as No. 3 in Taiwan by Google Scholar Citations (267 in World), No. 4 in Taiwan in 2015 U.S. News & World Report (427 in Best Global Universities Rankings) and ranked 351-400 in QS World University Rankings.

We endeavor to cultivate more brilliant minds and more leading pioneers with global vision, setting up NCU as a piloting academic establishment in the 21st century.


The NCU campus is located at the Northern Taiwan, 50 km away from Taipei and 20 km away from the Taoyuan International Airport. The area of the campus is about 62.5 hectares, including administration buildings, libraries, laboratories, research center, lecture halls, residence halls, cafeterias, sport fields and facilities, etc. The campus is renowned for its evergreen pine trees, symbolizing the persevering spirit of NCU. The NCU campus offers the students an opportunity to learn and enjoy their school life in a friendly environment.

NCU provides non-coed dormitories, furnished without mattress or bedding. Laundry facilities, refrigerators, televisions, and vending machines are equipped in the public areas.

To reach the city bus station, walk up on Jhongjheng Rd. from the front train station and turn left at the 2nd crossroad. Fare: NT$18.

By Car:

To Jhongli, take the Taoyuan Inner Circle to go on Freeway No.1, and then exit at Xinwu Interchange (62 km). Follow the direction sign to Xinwu, make a right turn on Sanmin Rd, turn left on Jhongjheng Rd., and within 3 minutes you will reach Jhongda Rd. to the main gate.

The Chinese Language Program (CLP) was established in 2001 and has already earned itself an outstanding reputation in the field. The core responsibilities of the program are to teach international students and non-native speakers Chinese and to help deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. Why this program:
1. Professional and academic curriculum design
2. Small class size and students oriented teaching
3. Experienced instructors all certified by the Ministry of Education in TCSL


NCU Chinese Language Program Tuition Rebate
Chinese Lang. Students of the Language Center are entitled to 10% tuition reduction if they meet the following criteria (this does not apply to scholarship awardees):

a. Having completed one semester at the Language Center and enrolled in the next semester for another 3 months.

b. Was not absent for more than 7 hours in the previous semester (including personal days off)

c. Reaching passing scores of 80% or above in the previous semester.

P.S. Students who wish to apply for tuition rebate must fill out an application form (available at the Language Center) and submit the form to C.L.P. staff within the first week of the term.


Student dormitory
Dormitories are available for international degree students, exchange students, Taiwan Scholarship students and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship students.

Location & Facilities The campus is 20 minutes driving distance from Taoyuan International Airport and located 45 kilometers south of Taipei. The Center also offers a comprehensive array of audio-video equipment for in-class use to assist students in their studies.

Local Attractions

Local Attractions Cultural and historic resorts are nearby, such as Sanxia Temple, Yingge Pottery Museum, Daxi Old Street, and Mausoleum of the Jiangs. Others like food and shopping are also easy to access. Jhongli Night Market and Zhongzhen shopping center is within 15 minutes by bus.
