The Scholarships are established for the purposes of facilitating international education and recruiting National Chin-Yi University of Technology (hereafter referred to as “NCUT”) international students with excellent academic standing. 1. International students who are admitted and granted the Scholarship are entitled to a full waiver of tuition fees for the first year. The Scholarship is granted to 10 undergraduate and 10 graduate students. 2. If a foreign freshman wins the national contest held in his/her country in the year (the qualification shall be determined by the Foreign Student Scholarship Review Group), he/she will be awarded an additional scholarship of NT$6,000 per month after admission (for up to 48 months during 4 years of study at the maximum amount of NT$288,000 in case of the undergraduate program; for up to 24 months during 2 years of study at the maximum amount of NT$144,000). In the case of suspension of schooling or drop-out, the award to the scholarship will be terminated. Starting from the second year after admission, foreign students meeting the following requirements may be exempted from tuition and miscellaneous fees in the semester: (1) Taking at least 6 credits in the semester prior to the enrollment in the graduate program, the student (the period of thesis composition is not subject to this limit, but may be applied once only) and obtaining an academic result of 80 or above (or provides the advisor’s referral and research plan if such an academic result is unavailable during the period of thesis composition, but may be applied once only); taking at least 9 credits in the semester prior to the enrollment in the undergraduate program and obtaining an academic result of 70 or above. (2) Students shall not have any records of demerit (three admonitions included). Foreign students qualified for exemption from tuition and miscellaneous fees shall make an application in accordance with the Directions for Provision of Scholarships for Outstanding Foreign Student, including the deadline of application, required documents, and application procedures; however, they do not take up the vacancies for the scholarships.
