The main objectives of the PhD program in cognitive sciences (CS) are to explore the nature of human mind and intelligence, the brain mechanisms underlying mental functions, and the behaviors that derive from the mental accordance with the expertise of participating faculty members. The four core areas are as follows:
1. Cognitive neuroscience
Visual cognition, developmental neuroscience, emotional development, reading and language development, cognitive modeling, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, etc.
2. Linguistics and language processing
Semantics, syntax, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, language and cognition, reading comprehension, computational linguistics, phonology, etc.
3. Applied cognition
Cognitive again, human factors, human-computer interface design, machine learning, education and learning, etc.
4. Mind and cognition
The basis of logic and artificial intelligence, mental representation, consciousness, etc.
