The Institute of Applied English, located within the College of Humanity and Social Sciences, was established in 2008. We are proud to play an essential part in the intellectual life of the university and the practices of our oceanic communities. This institute seeks to promote English-language learning as a social inquiry within communities of academic and professional practice. Therefore, we have collaborated with the Museum of Marine Science and Technology, and Yang-Ming Oceanic Culture and Art Museum. We embrace research and teaching in English-language education and English for maritime contexts. We are prepared to make continuing contributions to the expertise of our students as we face the unique opportunities and challenges of a globalized society.
