Location
Chung Shan Medical University (since1960) is located in the area with the most development potential city- Taichung city. It is an active, modern city with an international harbor, airport, pleasant weather, and of convenient transportation. Chung Shan Medical University is in the center of Taichung City. Taiwan High Speed Rail is only 10 minutes driving distance. The railway station and Taichung Metro station are only 5 minutes walking distance.
Campus
CSMU approximately 11.2 hectares (including the main campus, Da-Chung dormitory area and the university hospital). In addition, there are 41.8 hectares of campus in Maoli under development.
Environments
CSMU offers students the professional facilities and clinical environments for practical training, promotes clinical research and development, and provides high quality of health care to patients.It has recruited the best of our graduates and the elites in all fields and purchased high technology instruments, like PET, CT, Gamma Knife and MRI, which makes CSMUH the renowned hospital in central Taiwan. For the past 60 years, Chung Shan has educated numerous outstanding graduates. They devoted mostly to the medical care for societies all over the world. Many of our alumni also played a vital role in various leadership, like the Director of Department of Health in Executive Yuan, the Mayor of Taichung City, key cabinet members, Members of Parliament, and chairs in the related fields of medicine and dentistry.
Research
In addition to continuing to apply for research projects from government units outside the school, the faculty also continues to demonstrate stronger research capa-bilities in large-scale projects and project exchanges. Approximately 300 research projects from government agencies and more than 900 publications each year from our faculties.
Representative studies in recent years include the development of precision medicine for the treatment of aging and infertility, Brain Science Project Project focus on the Alzheimer Disease, and Cross-domain development of clinical database and AI system... etc..
In order to achieve the spirits of the school “Possess medical humanities and service spirit, Cooperate the pulse of society and medical needs”, the future re-searches will focus on the following scopes:
1. Population ageing and disability problems caused by aging
2. Various health shocks and diseases brought about by modern technology and living habits
3. Improving living environment pollution, food safety and hygiene
4. Medical resources inequties and quality of health care problems
5. Social and medical problems arising from the wealth gap and the increase of disadvantaged groups
