Biomaterials & Drug Controlled Release Laboratory is a diverse research group comprising scientists and students with different backgrounds and focuses primarily on exploring multifunctional theranostic delivery systems for the treatments of various diseases, particularly cancers. We actively investigate on the emerging field of highly efficient cell-based delivery systems for combinational treatment of solid tumor hypoxia and brain tumors. Current interests include the development of targeted multimodal therapeutic delivery systems in combination with immunotherapy for cancer treatments. Our research laboratory is well-equipped with the state-of-the-art designs to aid synthesis and characterization of smart drug carriers and nanomedicine. Research efforts are particularly devoted to fabrication of ultrasensitive nanomaterials in response to internal and external stimuli such as acidic pH, ROS, NIR irradiation, HIFU or alternating magnetic field for further adoption into smart delivery systems with the effective therapeutic action in a temporally and spatially controlled manner. Nanomedicine projects conducted in the Lab aims to validate their efficacy via both in vivo animal studies and in vitro cellular characterizations. Our mission is to bridge the gap between innovative and emerging disciplines of nanomedicine. The group has extensive experimental facilities, collaborations and provides ideal platforms to discuss new and innovative strategies in the field of biomaterials and nanomedicne.
