Taiwan has an impressive international reputation, especially in the aspects of arts. Foreign students in Taiwan are able to develop their potential while enjoying a full social life. Studying in the Taiwan will also help me in developing excellent language skills. Mandarin is of crucial importance in today’s global business arena. Although I can speak and write Mandarin since I
was young, but I have to master it in order to pursue my dreams in my future.
Currently, I’m studying filmmaking in TNUA, majoring in acting. Hence, I enjoy a lot in the classes that are related to performing arts (such as martial arts, improvisation, voice acting and musical training).
In 2014, I’ve graduated with Diploma in Performing Arts in Malaysia. I noticed quite differences. For example, the professors here have more on-hand experience in the industry and they are very kind in sharing information with the students. Our classroom is a medium-sized cinema. It suits us because whenever we need to play films in class, we can view them in a bigger, clearer screen.
I found that the most difficult part is certifying all the required documents. Trust me, the procedure is complicated and time-wasting. Therefore, you need to do your research in advance and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Don’t be shy! You can even call and ask for help from the university.
I would like to stay and find a job in Taiwan after finishing my study because compared to Malaysia, there are more opportunities here. In Taiwan, entertainment agencies welcome newcomers into the industry. They appreciate the newcomers’ works and willing to provide suggestions and training to them. And that definitely will benefit my future career.
In the entertainment industry, building connections are very important. In my 4 years study life in Taiwan, I’m sure I will meet people who help in my future career. Sometimes, the teachers and classmates will introduce me to go for casting calls. Without their help. I will not be able to know all these information.
Other than meeting new people and building connection, I’ve learned a lot about the culture and the people in Taiwan and that excites me! It will be an unforgettable experience in my life.
Make sure you do a full and complete research on the universities and courses. I’ve met people who regretted in their decisions, saying that it seems to deviate from what they are looking for. And they ended up quitting studies and went back to their home country.
